Unfailing Love

Unfailing Love

Have you ever had a day, a moment or situation where you just needed to be acquainted with understanding?  In other words, you needed to know your concern mattered. I sure have: on numerous times and on multiple occasions. There is that moment or moments in time where the world around us seems to go on business as usual and we just would like to press the “hold button” for a quick second and shout, “Wait!  It’s me over here! I need to be heard! I need to know that this concern is being heard!”

For some, that plea could sound and resonate as “over the top” but oftentimes, our pleas represent a longing for the heart and arms of Jesus to cover us in understanding. I am so thankful that I can share my heart to Him knowing that
He is there with unfailing love.

King David’s expression of seeking the unfailing love and understanding of God was all so prevalent through-out the book of Psalms.  It was during the trying times of his reign as King that he sought answers from the very One who could and would provide unfailing love, an uncompromising love and provide a path of understanding that could not be attained by any other.

In the book of Psalms, King David, shares his heart and longs for understanding.
“Cause me to hear Your lovingkindness in the morning, For You do I trust;
Cause me to know the way I should walk” Psalms 143:8 (NKJV)

Even in his kingly reign, David needed to be heard.
We all may not be “over the top” actually running like David in the desert of
Judah (Psalms 63), but in our quiet spaces and in those solitude places, we sometimes seek answers for the questions we have that will provide peace and an assurance. We long for the One who hears, loves unconditionally, and provides understanding.  David knew his considerations could be heard and having been a man after God’s own heart, he knew of God’s unfailing love firsthand.

Today as I pen this article, I am encouraged and reminded today to lean into His unfailing love and gain His understanding. We may sometimes feel like shouting, “Hey, stop this merry-go-round! I have something to share!”

May this be an encouragement to know we can gain wisdom and understanding by the very One who hears us and instructs, “My son, pay attention to what I say: turn your ear to my words. Do not let them out of your sight; keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to one’s whole body.” Proverbs 4:20-21 and “You will hear a voice behind you saying, “Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it. . .” Isaiah 30:21a (NKJV). His love and understanding illuminates our situation.

As I think of God’s unfailing love and my need for understanding, I feel compelled to write:

When I cannot seem to formulate the words of my heart’s concern;
When I need to just hear of remembrance of care;
When I need a touch of your hand, Lord, your unfailing love is there
to lead me, envelope me, and show me the way.
Thank you for your unfailing love.
