Red Light. Green Light.
Stop, Look & Listen: Holy Spirit Is Leading

I can remember vividly as if it were yesterday!  Laughter and fun exuberated from the parks and the playgrounds where I played as a child. Playing outside with my friends on
the playground was the highlight of the day! One of my  favorite all-time games to
play was “Red Light. Green Light.”  I am sure many of you reading this today can remember
that game. The goal of the game was to advance in steps and make it to the other side
before anyone else.  The caller, centered in the middle or at the end of the field,
would give the commands: “Red light! Green light!” and the other players, while advancing
in steps, would stop at the clarion call of “red light” and go at the call of “green light”.

Traffic lights are placed in the middle of the road.  It is the means of guidance as we
travel the intersecting roads that allow  us to stop and advance at the appointed time.
How we start, proceed and stop makes a difference how we arrive to our destination.
Where are you going in this new season in your purpose? What is the vision that God has
designed you?  When will you launch out into the direction that God has prepared for you?
How will we know? It is a matter of stopping where we are, looking to see where God is
leading us and listening to the voice of Holy Spirit who ultimately is our guide.

Holy Spirit, in the scriptures, is called the Paraclete. That word means Advocate. Intercessor.
He is our Counselor and our Guide. The role of a counselor is to provide counsel, insight and
most importantly, guidance in matters where direction is needed. Holy Spirit’s role in our lives
is to be our advocate and stand in the middle (the center of us) to give direction.
He wants to reveal many things to us. Again, how will we know?

Just as we are drivers of our vehicles, Holy Spirit is the driving force in our lives who tells
us, what to do, when to wait and when to advance.  We can take heed to these driving
commands:

STOP.   Take notice of what God is doing.  What is His timing?
LOOK.   Be alert and discerning of the things of God.
LISTEN.  Take time to gather the directions of what Holy Spirit is sharing with us to wait or to
advance.

Holy Spirit is the teacher of all things. He quickens us in our inner man so that we will be
alert to the things of God as He shows us things to come. Here are some powerful scriptures that we can draw upon for direction:

Isaiah 30:21  “And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying,
“This is the way, walk in it,” when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left.”

Proverbs 2:1 -5  “My son, if you receive my words and treasure up my commandments with you, making your ear attentive to wisdom and inclining your heart to understanding;  yes, if you call out for insight and raise your voice for understanding, if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.
Jeremiah 33:3   Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.

John 14:26   But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Philippians 2:13  For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

We are continually moving, advancing, and waiting in our time of navigating in our lives. We need clear instructions when and how to advance, as well as, when to wait.  The clarion calls
are there if we get into position to hear and to listen.

Are you in position at a juncture in life?
Instructions are waiting.
